My husband is in the Army. We are moving across country and the movers pick up our household goods on the 3rd of May, but won't get to Colorado until the 12th. He has to be on duty by the 10th. I am a new Army wife and need help. What or how much do I need to pack in or vehicle to get us through until our HH goods arrive? We can move into our Apt. on the 6th. Help please.

    Hi N.A.W.
It looks as if you'll have no access to things for the better part of two weeks, so my advice to you would be to pack as if you were planning on a two week vacation, except also include all of your husband's uniforms and whatever else he will need for on-duty time. The one positive aspect about having nothing in your new home for the first few days is that it will be really easy to get it spic and span! So if I were you, I'd pack all necessary papers, financial information, uniforms, housecleaning clothes for the both of you, and a few changes of casual clothing for the first few days. Set aside $100 for new cleaning supplies, and you can save that space in the car. Of course, also take all of your jewelry and anything else that you don't want sitting in a storage locker for 10 days. Take a look at our moving guide and specialized moving advice sections for hints of what are the absolute necessities.
If you still need to talk to someone after that, post us back, and we'll help as much as we can. From the tone of your letter you sound pretty stressed out, but thousands of people do this every year - you'll get through it!
    Good Luck! - MNA
