Thousands of philosophers over the years have considered and debated our reason for existence and the meaning of life. We at movers North America would put forth that working to improve the condition of another while expecting nothing in return should certainly be considered as one of the prime reasons for our time here. If you've never worked with a charity before, you're definitely missing out on a wonderful experience. And you just may find out that donating your time to others is the best way of rewarding yourself. Below are just a few of the charities and organizations which could benefit from your time and energy's.

Foster Parents Plan is one of the world’s largest international, child-centered development organizations. Plan is non-religious, non-political and has no government affiliations.

Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of “ordinary” people who work together to achieve extraordinary results. Each day we stand in solidarity with - and help protect - individuals and communities around the world whose human rights are under attack. We appeal for the violations to stop. We mobilize public pressure to prevent human rights abuses from taking place. And we support Amnesty’s campaigns through our financial contributions.

Canadian Federation of Humane Societies
The CFHS was formed in 1957 as the first and only national voice of Humane Societies/SPCAs across Canada and remains so to this day. The Federation serves as a forum through which member societies can meet to discuss issues of national importance. Together, we advocate for the universal humane treatment, care and protection of all animals.

Car Heaven
Car Heaven was founded by the Clean Air Foundation, an organization working specifically on air quality issues in Canada. The Car Heaven Program encourages Canadians to get their old high-polluting cars off the road. Since the launching of the program in June 2000, over 28,000 cars have been donated to the program reducing green house gasses such as VOC emissions by 192 tonnes, CO by 1244 tonnes, and NOx by 109 tonnes.

Children's Wish Foundation of Canada

The mission of the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is to work within the community to fulfill heart felt wishes for children diagnosed with a high-risk, life-threatening illness. We desire to help every child enjoy the best quality of life possible, including the experience of laughter, shared joy and treasured memories with important people in their lives.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada is an affiliate of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International which started in 1970, by a group of concerned parents of children with juvenile (type 1) diabetes. JDRF's commitment to funding is a symbol of hope - with a strong, continued effort - a cure will be found.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $424 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.

Meals on Wheels

The meal call web site is a collection of all of the various provincial ‘Meals on Wheels’ sites. All local senior meal programmes are completely independent, and rules and procedures vary. However, it is a great site for finding out whether your local community may have a ‘Meals on Wheels’ program.

The mission of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is: To be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. Our two major programs provide hope for the future through the support of MS research into the cause, treatment and cure of the disease and hope for today through our many services that assist people with MS and their families.

Muscular Dystrophy Canada

Since 1954, Muscular Dystrophy Canada has been committed to improving the quality of life for the tens of thousands of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders and funding leading research for the discovery of therapies and cures for neuromuscular disorders. We strive to ensure that people with neuromuscular disorders lead full and engaged lives by providing services that increase mobility and encourage independence. We also aim to increase the awareness of neuromuscular disorders and their implications amongst Canadians to motivate changes in social policy at a national level.

Oxfam Canada

Oxfam Canada is dedicated to fighting poverty and injustice around the world. We believe that every individual is entitled to an income, an education, affordable health-care, protection from disasters and violence, equality of opportunity and the right to have a say in his or her own future. We work with people in poor communities, with local partner organizations at home and abroad and with members, volunteers and financial supporters to make this a reality. Oxfam Canada is a member of Oxfam International, a federation of twelve, autonomous non-governmental organizations.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada is dedicated to helping children with serious and/or life-threatening illnesses or disabilities and their families lead happier and healthier lives. RMHC achieves this by supporting the Ronald McDonald House in communities across Canada and by awarding grants to children's charities that directly improve the health, well-being and quality of life for children in need.

The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.

The Terry Fox Foundation’s mission is to maintain the vision and principles of Terry Fox while raising money for cancer research through the annual Terry Fox Run, memoriam donations and planned gifts.

UNICEF Canada

UNICEF works for and with children in 157 countries and territories, advocating for children's rights, insuring their basic needs are met and enabling them to reach their full potential. UNICEF's programming priorities include immunization, girl’s education, HIV and AIDS, child protection, and early childhood development. UNICEF is also present whenever emergency strike, working to ensure the well-being and development of children.

World Vision

As Canada's largest relief and development agency, World Vision's passion is to help children and their communities transform their lives by fighting poverty and injustice. YMCA/YWCA
